Your reputation score brings together the quality of your contributions, accepted work, verified information, participation, assessments, and any active penalties. It helps you understand your record and can affect the pay quoted when you claim a TaskA specific item a contributor claims or enters. It is separate from a course result or credential; each CampaignA developer's data-production project and its settings decides its own participation requirements.

Read your current result

In the Contributor portal, open Passport and select How your score works. Under Your Reputation the page shows your score (0–100), your tier as Tier name · multiplier rewards, and when the score was computed. What moves your score breaks down the factors behind the current result. Start with the factor you want to understand; the total alone cannot identify which record caused a change.

Read the dates and rule version beside the score:

  • Computed is when this result was calculated. A newly accepted contribution may have been recorded after that time.
  • Valid until is the validity of this calculation, usually about 25 hours after Computed. It is not a deadline for new work to appear.
  • The version printed beside the score, such as crs-5.3.0, names the rules used for this result. Check it when comparing scores calculated at different times.

The starting baseline is 50 before other eligible information is counted. You can have verified identity or activity records before your first contribution, so no accepted work does not guarantee a displayed score of exactly 50. A new account may show no calculation time until its first result is saved.

Your detailed factor breakdown and penalty records belong to your signed-in Passport view. A public reputation summary can expose your score and tier without those details.

What raises or lowers the score

Rule version crs-5.3.0 · pre-stable. Reputation rules are versioned, and every score shows the version that produced it beside the score. The active version is a pre-stable release: its factors, coefficients, and tiers can still change before the stable release. A change arrives as a new version; it does not rewrite a score already recorded.

The active rule uses the factors below. The numbers beside their names are calculation coefficients, not the percentage of your displayed score. What moves your score shows each factor's contribution to your current result.

FactorWhat affects itWhere to look or act
Quality · 0.55Accepted-work grades and the balance of accepted and refused contributions. Repeated submissions alone do not improve this factor.Open the affected work in Contributions and read the result and feedback. Use that feedback on subsequent work.
Volume · 0.15Accepted work, weighted by Task difficulty. Growth slows as the amount rises.Check which submissions were accepted; a submitted or pending item is not yet accepted work.
Identity · 0.20Verified social bindings and approved credentials, subject to limits. Self-reported details are different.Check the relevant verification result in Passport → Identity or Credentials.
Engagement · 0.10Active days, login streaks, and contribution streaks.Keep doing suitable work and check whether activity was recorded.
Skill · 0.06Settled capability assessments. A result below the baseline can lower this factor.Read the recorded assessment result and feedback before deciding what to study next.
PenaltyAn effective strike deducts points. Three effective strikes under this rule reduce the score to zero.Inspect any penalty record and its status; see Respond to a penalty.

The calculation starts at 50, combines the factors, applies penalties, then keeps the result between 0 and 100. Quality and Skill can move it above or below the baseline; Identity, Volume, and Engagement can add to it. Recent work, activity, and assessment signals use a rolling 180-day window. Current verified identity records and the inactivity rule have their own conditions, so the entire score does not simply expire after 180 days. Adding the coefficients or raw factor values will not reproduce your score.

Improve your reputation

There is no application to raise your tier. Choose an action based on the factor and underlying record:

  1. Open What moves your score and identify the factor you want to address. How to improve, when shown, offers estimated opportunities; its point estimates are not guaranteed gains.
  2. Find the corresponding result. For Quality or Volume, use Contributions and submission feedback. For Identity, inspect the verification record. For Skill, read your settled assessment result.
  3. Act on what the record says. Improve the work against the Task's criteria, complete a relevant verification, or use assessment feedback for further study. Choose work you can do well; more submitted work without acceptance does not increase Volume.
  4. After a new result is recorded, return to Reputation and compare the Computed time, the version, the factor breakdown, and the total. Opening the page requests a recalculation, but it cannot make an unrecorded result count immediately.

A single strong factor may leave your tier unchanged if the total does not cross the next threshold. Older work can leave its measurement window; an effective penalty can reduce the score.

Inactivity and converted points

Two adjustments act on the score after the factors are combined.

Pre-stable. The current release applies both adjustments to every calculation. What moves your score does not list them yet, and they are not yet part of a published rule version.

Inactivity. When 12 calendar months pass with no recorded activity on your account, the part of your score above 50 is halved: 70 becomes 60, and 80 becomes 65. A score of 50 or below does not change. A sign-in or a submissionThe record created when work is submitted counts as activity, and the adjustment stops applying from the next calculation after you are active again.

Points converted from the older platform. If your account was migrated, the conversion adds points to this score once, based on your verified points balance there:

Points balance on the older platformPoints added
1,000,000 or more12
100,000 to 999,9999
10,000 to 99,9996
1,000 to 9,9993
100 to 9992
Above 0, below 1001

A verified quality score of 80 or higher on the older platform gives 20 points when that is more than the balance gives; the two are never added together. An account with an established finding of malicious behavior on the older platform is not converted.

Converted points count toward your tier while they last. They step down by one twelfth each month and reach zero 12 months after the conversion, so a score can fall on that schedule without any change in your work. Penalties and the inactivity adjustment use up converted points before the points you earned on Humanbased.

Understand tiers, eligibility, and pay

The current rule divides scores into ten tiers. Reputation shows the points needed for the next tier; crossing that boundary changes the tier at a later calculation.

ScoreTierPay factor
90.00–100.00Elite1.4×
80.00–89.99Distinguished1.3×
70.00–79.99Established1.2×
60.00–69.99Proven1.1×
50.00–59.99Trusted1.0×
40.00–49.99Consistent0.9×
30.00–39.99Active0.8×
20.00–29.99Developing0.7×
10.00–19.99Newcomer0.6×
0.00–9.99Provisional0.5×

The score is shown with two decimals, and a tier begins at its lower bound. For example, 59.50 is still Trusted with a 1.0× factor. If later recorded work brings the calculated score to 60.00, the tier becomes Proven with a 1.1× factor. A Task claimed after that change can use the new factor; a Task already claimed keeps the factor recorded at claim time. Read the Task's base quote and actual earnings to understand what you earned. A tier alone does not promise an amount.

The Campaign's participation requirements are a separate decision. A higher tier does not replace a required course, agreement, credential, or another condition. If a Campaign sets a reputation threshold, check that specific requirement and the Campaign's current decision before trying to claim work.

What moves your score explains the current calculation; it is not a timeline of every score change. Contributions holds work results, while Passport holds your detailed reputation view. Keep those records separate when tracing an apparent change.

Respond to a penalty

A refused Submission and a reputation strike are different records. A strike can deduct points while it remains effective; under crs-5.3.0, three effective strikes make the score zero even if other factors are positive. Recovery depends on the record's policy and status, so use the recovery information on the affected record rather than assuming every deduction expires on the same schedule.

If Review records appears on your Reputation page, open the affected record. Read its category, dates, current deduction, and status. Where Review and respond is offered, use it to provide your account of the case, then follow the recorded outcome. If the action is absent, the record cannot be found, or you still disagree after a decision, contact support with the relevant record ID and a description of the issue. Include only the information needed to locate your case.

Check which rules applied

On the Reputation page, What moves your score lists the factors, the tier bar shows the tiers, and Review records lists penalties, all for the version printed beside your score. A rule update does not rewrite a past recorded score; a later calculation can use the newer version. Older versions used different tier names, so compare historical results using the version printed on each one.

For a discrepancy you still cannot explain, send support the before-and-after scores, both Computed times, the versions printed beside them, and related contribution or penalty IDs. This gives the teamA relationship among Contributors that leaves each member's Submissions and Earnings their own specific records to investigate without guessing from the total alone.
